In another subject, Multimedia Editing and Producing, we were analyzing an article which we could choose from different 5 topics. American gymnast 19 years old legend, Olympic medalist and in today's unbeatable, Simon Biles, this is my topic. Honestly, this one look a bit easier, so I made my decision, no just kidding, this article is madden in very interesting way and I also like gymnastics and sports where you have to use the maximum of your body movement range, so I'm not such a slob, haha. Down there is the whole task, it's quite long sorry, about that and link straight to The NY Times sites. Enjoy

The Fine Line, Simone Biles Gymnastics

The NY Times Kkn

Exercise 2

The opening page is a nicely done introduction for the whole article, it has everything that is in the text below. We can see where the main character of this story, her name, her purpose in gymnastics and her determination in her face expression. That is why she is here, in The NY Times. Also there is tirelessly jumping a little arrow with Start sign which signalising the interactive character of whole article about this young and in these days unbeatable gymnasts, 4 times gold medalist of Summer Olympic Games in 2016 and 3 times world champion in a row (in one discipline which I didn't find a translation for, something like free performance at a big square acroba 12×12 meters).

Use of text in this article isn't really plentiful but accurate as much as it has to be because this article is for me more about videos and digital analysis of her movements. At first, the author shared some worlds of another Olympics legends about Simone. Than wrote something to describe her and her view to future. Her signature move is mentioned as well and after showing it there comes citations of herself, her coaches and another gold medalist. Those are interlaced by videos with technical analysts of her significant movement on acroba. Then there is an analysis of another discipline - The beam, which is only four inches wide. Last text is a citation of Nastia Liukin, Gold medalist in 2008, she said that at this point in time, nobody can beat Simone Biles, what is good and strong ending for the whole article, it is like the last line which completely underlined and confirmed the meaning of the whole article.

This whole article is basically based on photos and videos of her, her movement and technical side of her only move that anyone other didn't try in competition yet, called simply "The Biles". The text is there actually only as an addition for videos because the main point of the article is to show what can she do in my opinion, and of course there is important mention her achievements but still, the video is there factor number one. From the first photo to the last video is whole article nicely swift, that doesn't event mind you to spend there a little bit more time and watching her perfect moves again and again, than you will play 2 or more times the video where they analyse The Biles trick, where is every single move nicely described and showed so that everybody can see it easily. Also, the citations are only added for video interviews types of particular shot interlaced to other videos. The last video provokes me to feel like she is flying over me like as over other competitors in the tournaments and as she is flying over us straight again to a gym to practice another inimitable movements and performances.

War drums and slow-motion video makes me feel like I'm running straight into the battlefield, what actually every acroba in competitions is and makes me excited about another slide. The sound of a sparkling star shining from her teeth feels a little bit too much for me, but her honest smile equals it. Big applause and screaming perfectly describes her sports career so it's on point. Calm music, but also with somehow a little bit aggressive type of drums in analysis part is styled to focus you on her skill movement. What works by the way. The last analysis of the beam tumbling pass has also easy drums but shorter and not so intensive because the whole thing is smaller than the one before. So the whole article is done good according to video and selected music, which gives us exactly the feelings we need to be drawn into.

Graphics are simply direct and clear, as this sport itself. It is easy to orient in the text, maybe with slower internet speed it could be upsetting to switch between particular slides and maybe a little bit fast in some parts, but in the whole, I like graphics like this one. Also, the scathing her movements was useful to imagine her moves easily and understand them. Another animation about four inches wide surface was nicely done to help imagine how tight the beam is and hard it has to be.

Links don't have any representation, only arrows for moving between slides, music setting, sharing button, menu button and The NY Times sign for jumping on the main/home site. Or somebody can try some ads to click on.

In this article were integrated videos, photos, sounds and lack of text but everything important was said anyway. For example, for me it meant a lot because I don't like to read long exhausting articles, I rather write them, that's true, but I think that a lot of under 40 years old readers have the same opinion and we are there more associated with this type of article. It is fast, it is easy to go through, it enjoys you because you can scroll up and down and in every single action which attracts you more than just black words on white background. Also, the colors behind frames with text and videos are attractive and can make the reader feel more comfortable at the time of reading.

Another important thing for choosing this type of article is that, that you can imagine much more the whole message of the article because it is all about her and her ability to do things she is doing. Gymnastics is a really hard task and it's really hard to be good in but even harder is to imagine it when we don't know these moves and I think that less than a quarter of readers were professional gymnasts. So yes, I find this way of writing article about a topic like that very useful and clever. Of course there is much more work and takes it more time, but in the end, it will worth and it has to be nice to change work for a while.

For moving between slides I was just scrolling down and up because some slides disappeared quite fast so I didn't catch them and also for replaying these analysis parts. Later I just found arrows up and down to the next slide, so readers can use two ways of moving through the article.

Feedback from this article is new knowledge of her abilities and her past, achievements and her bright future. Other factors to be enriched by is the style of an article - inspiration and of course motivation for young athletes to be as good as they want and for writer and journalist to do more and find new ways of making articles, for example, like was this one but there is a lot of possibilities.

I started to look at the whole article from a little bit different perspective, not such as a reader but more like a writer and than I had to separate each factor as was writing part, video and photo part and whole graphic of the article. So I like this kind tasks because it gives me what I need to be better in writing after every single finished one and also it proves my English language skills what is convenient.

Respect, a lot
